Along with most of the UK, I have been exercising more during lockdown. With the lack of the gym, I have signed up to Les Mills on Demand and have been dancing up a storm around my living room. It has really helped me keep my weight under control amidst the extra baking but the continuation of work means I am constantly tired at the moment. I try to limit my coffee to one cup a day so thought I would explore other options to get some extra energy.
I was kindly sent some cans of the new plant based Tenzing Blackberry & Acai to try at just the right time. I have bought their original recipe drink a few times so was interested to try their new flavour.
Tenzing blackberry & açai contains 30% more caffeine than their previous blends and is completely plant based, making it suitable for those following a vegan diet. With electrolytes from Himalyan rock salt, it rehydrates the body in a natural way following exercise therefore avoiding that tired slump that can often follow once the endorphins wear off.

The drink itself is really fizzy, which is something I don’t often find when drinking energy drinks. I always feel they are lightly carbonated and heavy on the sugar, whereas Tenzing drinks are the total opposite. They feel light and refreshing with a punch of flavour. The blackberry and açai is a little bitter with a touch of sweetness but not overly so. It does have that stereotypical caffeine flavour left on the palate that energy drinks bring that I am not a huge fan of but I am yet to find an energy drink that doesn’t have this.
I drank one and put the rest in the fridge, then went back a few days later and they had gone. It seems my friend really enjoyed them and had polished them off after his runs! They are a good option to have in the fridge, especially with the warm weather set to return. If you need to rehydrate they are so useful and taste good too. What’s not to like?
