Pizza Take Outs From Foodie Food

Pizza Take Outs From Foodie Food

No matter how ‘normal’ things get, pizza will still be my takeaway of choice. I like most pizza, the traditional takeaway style pizza with the thick base and a lot of toppings, or the wood-fired pizzas with a thinner base and a soft chewy crust. Depending on my mood, both will suffice so I was looking forward to trying the wood-fired options from Foodie Food.

Currently based in Central Manchester, Foodie Food offer a small yet beautifully formed menu of Neapolitan style hand stretched pizzas, burgers and sides. There are meat and vegetarian option, with everything made on site and served with love in beautifully branded boxes.

I ordered a meat and a vegetarian pizza, for review purposes obviously. The BBQ Chicken option has a BBQ sauce based topped with mozzarella, chicken, peppers and onion. The toppings are evenly distributed and there is a little in each mouthful, which many do so badly somehow. The base is super thin yet with a chunky crust that is pillowy and chewy, just delicious.

As good as the BBQ chicken pizza is, the Goats Cheese takes the biscuit, or the slice in this case. A light tomato base topped with mozzarella then huge slices of goats cheese, before being drizzled with pesto and basil leaves. The smell was intoxicating as I opened the box and I was not disappointed. That goats cheese is incredible and the drizzle of pesto, just awesome. This is my new order. I even ate the crusts first, dipped in the pesto! Foodie Food need to sell that stuff in a pot for dunking, that’s for sure.

Onto the sides and there are some cracking options from Foodie Food, even the chips are delicious. Peri Peri Fries that have been cooked until crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Considering I live in Stockport and they delivered to me, they retained that crunch and did not go soggy. I’m not sure what this witchcraft is, but I’m here for it.

The Red Cabbage Coleslaw even has their attention to detail and has clearly been freshly made. It is crunchy with a light dressing and topped with fresh herbs. A lovely way to lighten up all that bread, although I also scooped it up with the pizza crusts so probably not …

My favourite side was the Halloumi Fries, which was absolutely massive. Hugely generous slices of halloumi that has been fried to the cheese is warm and loses most of that squeakiness, without causing it to melt too much. They are delicious and I finished them in record time. The Wings are also a good shout; I tried the BBQ but there are Buffalo Wings too if you are not a wuss with spice. These are proper meaty wings, no skinny bones here! The dressing is sweet and tangy, with a slight crunch from the sprinkle of seeds on top. It is these little touches that really stand Foodie Food apart from the other takeaway pizza options out there. Everything stays hot, doesn’t go soggy and is an absolute joy to eat. I’m talking restaurant quality pizza delivery without the heftier price tag that these options usually come with.
