A Tour Of Selina NQ1, Northern Quarter

Yesterday I told you all about the changes that have been made at the old Patron, now Wilson’s Social. Today is all about the changes that have been made to Hilton’s Chambers to create Selina NQ1.

Selina offer a range of rooms for every budget, and they mean every budget. From community rooms with shared facilities, to an impressive loft for 2 people, a lot of love and care has gone into each room to make it unique to Manchester yet cosy for guests to feel comfortable no matter what room type they choose.

The communal areas are freshly decorated in light neutral colours with a real design element throughout. Selina have worked with local artists and designers to get the Manchester feel just right throughout, also utilising furniture that was left in the old space and renovating it for a new lease of life. It gives upcycling a whole new meaning and I am here for it.

The community rooms contain bunks with their own light, personal shelves and lockers to keep belongings secure but also keep the cost of staying overnight down. The standard double rooms are an impressive size with a seating area, lots of space and light from the large windows. The chairs here were in the old hotel and have been painted to give them a new lease of life in the Selina space.

The loft room takes things to the next level with some lovely nods to Manchester’s music scene and a cosy seating area to enjoy it. It is the perfect base to explore everything Manchester has to offer or, if you already know the joys of this fair city, the perfect luxurious option to have some quiet time and relax in gorgeous surroundings.

I wish my handbag was big enough to fit that beautiful blush pink chair, isn’t it gorgeous? Another unique feature of Selina NQ1 is the communal spaces. There is a large welcome area in reception where you can grab a coffee and either plan your day or catch up with friends. There is also a sitting area with kitchen space, which is available for guests to use at their leisure. This is such a great facility, especially if you are visiting for a longer period of time and don’t want to eat out every night. It has that real ‘traveller’ feel to it that can come with staying in a hostel type setting. The idea that guests can get meet in a relaxed and easy setting, to get to know each other the way this kind of set up works in other areas of the world.

I hope I get the opportunity to stay at Selina NQ1 soon, I just need a good excuse!
