With the cost of living crisis that we are all living through at the moment, finding sustainable alternatives and ways to save money are so important. I’ve definitely noticed less offers in the supermarket on those items that I buy every week, my beloved diet coke being one of them. Now, I know it is dreadful for me, so another reason to try something new alongside reducing my food shop costs. Let me introduce you to Drinkmate.
Drinkmate is a carbonated drink system, which allows you to add a little bit of sparkle to nearly any liquid you want, not just water! Other carbonated drink systems cannot do this safely due to how they depressurise drinks with sugar, flavours or alcohol in them. Drinkmate uses a two stage system to sort this out meaning you can add fizz to virtually any cold liquid you like.
Drinkmate works using a co2 gas canister that fits neatly into the back of the machine. There is no electricity or batteries, so you can keep it anywhere without needing to be near a plug or charge point.
There are four colours to choose from so you can coordinate with your kitchen. You can choose red, white or black, or the sleek new arctic blue that I went for.
Drinkmate is super easy to use. You pop the co2 gas canister in the back, fill the generously sized bottle with your liquid of choice and then put the lid on. Then slide it into the machine and press the button. Bursts of gas fill the bottle before you can remove it and flip the little switch on the lid to depressurise the system.
Being a true Northerner, I have been enjoying fizzy Vimto using cordial rather than having to buy the fizzy version as well. You can add fizz to previously fizzy drinks too, meaning those bigger bottles of pop that are always cheaper in the supermarket, when they go flat you can just fizz them right back up.
The bottle also has a separate lid so you can take it with you on the go. It holds the fizz really well too, I’ve been taking mine to work and it is still fizzy when I drink it at lunchtime.
Everything tastes better with a bit of sparkle so using Drinkmate is a great way to stay hydrated, and carbonating your own drinks is much kinder on the planet thanks to the reduction in single use bottles and canned drinks. Drinkmate also offer a co2 exchange, so you get money off your canisters if you send them back for recycling.
