Heck Introduce Chicken Mince

Heck Introduce Chicken Mince

I use mince so regularly that there is always a packet of some sort of minced meat in my fridge. Bolognaise and Chilli are staple meals that I make at least once a fortnight. When you live alone, it is easy to whip up a batch and freeze into meals for another day. Less than 5% fat beef mince is my usual go to but Heck kindly sent across their new range of chicken minces for me to try so I gave them a good test for you.

Heck use the best quality chicken to create their range of three minces that are high in protein and just 3% fat. Each of the packs come already seasoned with the Simply Chicken being perfect for most dishes where you would usually use beef mince.

Heck have mixed things up with their Spring Chicken and Chicken Italia; Spring Chicken includes spring onions, ginger, red chilli with the seasoning. It is great served with some noodles and stir fry vegetables for a Pad Thai style dish. There is also the Chicken Italia with tomato, mozzarella, basil and garlic, which I turned into a bolognaise. The flavours add a bit of richness and you don’t need to add much more than some chopped tomatoes and stock for a great bolognaise dish, which should satisfy the whole family.

Heck recognise that people might be a bit confused by the idea of minced chicken and include recipes under each of their labels, to give you a bit of inspiration. There is a taco recipe that I definitely need to try with my next batch.

My Pad Thai is not the prettiest thing in the world but it certainly tasted good! My only complaint with the mince is that it doesn’t break up very well in the pan when cooking. I’m guessing it has something to do with having less fat and it does tend to clump together, but with a stir fry it isn’t a big issue. In fact, I did think how great it would be for home made burgers and that was quickly added to my list of things to try with the mince.

Three new minces that give your normal dinner rotation a little bit of flavour and something different. I know I’ll be buying them again.
